An exercise in oral history: Argentina's last (hopefully) dictatorship started the day Ángeles turned 9 years old. She began writing that year. At fifteen she started four years of creative writing training, an education in craft, distance, and the discipline of returning as a stranger to the written pages.
By the time she was nineteen she had read in libraries, cultural centres, and nightclubs in Buenos Aires - a capella or collaborating with jazz musicians.
Two of her books won awards in Argentina and Chile before she left for the nomadic life that led her to London.
Here, some documents of those first years, and a humble tribute to just a handful of those who have been role models, inspiration, and support for that path.
